(More customer reviews)Simple product that works great!Uses 3 cups of yogurt, juice or softened ice cream to make 8 perfect popsicles or ice cream bars.Sturdy and well made - dishwasher safe.I love that it uses wooden sticks - like real popsicles - instead of the plastic handles that came with other ice molds I've tried.This one freezes fast and the bars are sort of "bomb-shaped" and easy to eat.It comes with only a few sticks to get you started, but they are easy to find at any craft store ... and are cheap.I use my ice cream maker to prepare my favorite home made ice cream (chocolate mint) to a slushy state and pour it into the molds - also works with store bought ice creams that are partially thawed.The (small) pamphlet that comes with the product has a great recipe for frozen latte bars - coffee!!I haven't tried it yet, but sounds wonderful.
The small parts that are mentioned in other reviews are only the eight, individual caps for each mold. (A total of only 9 parts to the whole set, plus disposable popsicle sticks). These caps hold the sticks in the proper place for freezing.They are removed once the popsicles are frozen, so I just take them all off at one time and store them together.The molds themselves are all held together in a metal frame, so I think this set is much easier to keep up with than the T*pperware versions of years ago.
Well worth the price.Only wish it made about twice as many bars...guess I need to order another set!

Emerson Compact Refrigerator Review

(More customer reviews)I'm usually overall elaborate with my reviews, but I'll be brief on this particular one since more than likely if you're reading this, you're probably buying this fridge on clearance or it's coming to its end of life cycle.

First the positive aspects of the fridge.Emerson has accomplished what many could not successfully do with other brand models, in that you have a fully functional TRUE freezer space inside a compact fridge.It's amazingly large and can actually fit regular tubs of half gallon ice cream.(The horizontal cartons anyway.Vertical cartons can be laid down on their sides)It can keep things in a solid block of ice if needed, and due to the low volume space of the freezer, it acts as a better ice cube maker.

The fridge has a TRUE FLAT back.No wires are exposed, you can literally sit it against the wall.The trick is that Emerson ran the cooling coil around the fridge, so that the heat sink is actually on its sides and bottom.They then covered it with thin plastic on all sides.The fridge is warm to the touch, but never hot because of this.

With positives come negatives of course.The fridge itself would be comparable to 3.9cu Ft models, but because of the enclosed freezer door, it is cut down to total 3.1cu Ft.(2.2cu Ft for space, 0.9 for freezer)

The fridge is HEAVY.It's 57.5lbs is not entirely accurate.Although I don't have an exact measurement, it definitely is a lot heavier than similar compact fridge models.Typically other models would be around 45lbs.

The refrigerator space is surprisingly weak compared to the very powerful freezer space.I'm assuming the motor that it uses is the same one on other fridges, so they implemented more research onto keeping the freezer cold, but not the fridge as cold.If you're a person who likes ICE cold drinks, you'll be in for some disappointment.

Neutral things that you can see positive or negative are follows.

It runs quiet, but runs constantly.The freezer needs to be kept in check and because it uses such a small motor, it has to keep running.

It has key locks.This can be useful if you want to keep alcohol in the fridge, but if you LOOSE your keys.Well, good luck.

Its unusual weight is placed onto four peg legs.If you have sensitive flooring, this can cause dents.

In the end, I like the fridge but don't love the fridge.It's definitely pretty, quiet, and has good freezer space.It's also heavy, runs constantly, and has limited fridge space for its size.This is a true MINI FRIDGE.Take that for what it is.

Although I reviewed this fridge back in November 2008, I actually had the fridge in May.Now is past the 2 year point and I'm happy to say the fridge is still going strong.I decided to update the review since I saw how many people found this helpful and I wanted to make sure my words didn't loose meaning over time.

First of all - this fridge is available in retail chains.So for those of you who are getting bad shipments, I suggest you simply go pick it up.It's a shipping issue between you and the vendor; not Emerson and their fridge.

Second - Always remember that this fridge's big selling point is the freezer space.The fridge space isn't any different from other mini-fridges you happen to come across.

For those of you who have actually e-mailed me about the "flat back" - yes, this fridge literally has a flat back.The cooling coil you find on most fridges (take a look behind your big one in your kitchen for example) was covered up by Emerson on this model, so it runs around the fridge but is covered by that black thick plastic material you see in the picture.It's really sleek, and very useful for those who want to shove the fridge in a corner with it's back facing outward.KEEP IN MIND for safety reasons, you should still give the fridge some breathing room around the edges.

Still a great fridge, still love mine.I would gladly pick up another one if I actually needed another one.This little guy isn't an Energy Star fridge, but almost no mini-fridge is unless it's those horrible coolers they pass off as fridges now-a-days.Thanks for reading as always.

I've used smaller, deep serving spoons in the past but when you're serving casseroles and other dishes that require a "heaping" serving, this spoon can't be beat! The spoon is nice and wide, and more importantly, nice and flat. If anything, it resembles and ice cream paddle but is "dressier" and more appropriate for the dinner table. A+++++++ on this one.

(More customer reviews)We purchased this device to prevent our numerous cats from pawing at the bedroom door at night (we need the sleep and they don't sleep). We had tried several methods (barricades, squirt bottles, etc.) and was not able to prevent the cats from trying to 'open' the door.

The SSSSCat was easy to initialize and we set up the unit near the door.Sure enough the first night one particularly stubborn kitty tested it three times...but only a few times ever since.The cat approaches to paw at the door, the unit emits a series of beeps, then ssssssssssss. The cat runs away.The warning alarm is barely audible from behind the door--so we barely register the sound in our sleep. It definitely discourages the cats--they never even get to the door to paw at it.The air canister is still going after several months.

We plan on purchasing additional units for other problem areas of the house. I highly recommend this product for smoothing conflicts between people and cats in an effective and humane way!

Dwarf Cavendish Banana 5 Seeds - Musa acuminata Review

(More customer reviews)I decided to purchase the seeds for the Dwarf Cavendish Banana variety due to the fact that I plan on cultivating the plant in a hydroponic environment. Starting the plant from a soilless media would be required, due to the seedlings later introduction into a top feed drip hydroponic system.

Based on what I had previously read about the difficulties of seed germination for the Musa Acuminata, I had some doubts as to my success with the project. After familiarizing my self with the various techniques for germinating this seed, I decided to go along with the instructions provided by the seed company in the following context.

The seeds were soaked in plain tap water for twenty-four hours. Following which I planted them approximately ?" deep in coco coir media that had been rehydrated with plain tap water. I was keen to keep the temperature of the media/water at around 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The propagation tray was of a wick feed variety and the nutrient I placed in its reservoir was a Miracle Gro solution at approximately 25% strength from recommended mixing directions. This was placed on a heating pad for seedling trays and a fluorescent grow light was cycled for 14 hours on 10 hours off for the period in discussion.

Coco coir media was chosen because it has excellent nutrient solution holding capacity while still maintaining good drainage and outstanding oxygen facility to the root zone. Additionally it has rooting hormones that may have proved beneficial to the germination of the seeds. I conclude that my germination rate of 40% after one month is due to these parameters. I fully expect that there will be further germination of the remaining seeds shortly which will result in a very high final success rate with minimal effort.

The seedlings that have germinated are quite robust and have displayed rapid growth that is noticeable on a daily basis. I would recommend this seed product to anyone that has germinated seeds before; these are not that difficult to start.

Merry Pet The Mansion Wood Pet House, Large Review

Assembly was very simple. After the whole assembly, we found some gap in the flooring. This is the only reason I rated this product with 4 stars. I covered that gap by putting vinyl flooring on top of that. There are snakes in our area so it was necessary to cover the gap. Otherwise, it is an excellent product. Great outdoor decor. Our dogs love it.

I will highly recommend this product to all the pet owners.

I first used it to help creambutter and sugar for pastry dough and was amazed at how quickly it did thejob.My next task was whipping cream for desserts and to fold intopudding.Last and certainly not least was keeping yeast warm and of coursethe dough.I am convinced that I saved twenty to thirty minutes of risetime when I made my famous kuchen (German cake).
This product is wellworth the money if you love to cook and bake like I do.

Green Star GS-1000 Juice Extractor Review

(More customer reviews)I've been juicing since the early 1990s and more recently, as a certified raw foods associate chef, have been preparing a wider range of juicer recipes including pates and ice cream from frozen bananas.I have experience with Green Star, Champion, Juiceman, and several other juicers, and have read quite a bit about various models of juicers.If you are going to be juicing a lot of greens such as kale and parsley, the Green Star will give you a better and more nutritious yield than any juicer on the market.It far exceeds masticating juicers such as the Champion in this regard, as well as centrifugal juicers such as theJuiceman.A huge benefit of Green Star is that it juices wheat grass, so you will not need a dedicated wheat grass juicer.It's also amazingly quiet, far quieter (and a bit slower) than my Champion.And like the Champion, it does a great job with pates, frozen ice cream, and other recipes requiring a homogenizing blade, also known as a "blank."With a slower speed, the juice does not heat up as much as with a Champion and oxidizes slower.

So is there a catch?Yes.There are far more parts to assemble, disassemble, and clean than with a Champion.I'm reminded of the time when my brother was a child, he asked to borrow my father's watch, and my father said, "sure."A few days later, my father wanted his watch back, and entered my brothers room to find a bazillion little pieces on the floor:gears, springs, etc.My brother explained that he wanted the watch so he could take it apart, but not to worry he said, "I'll put it back together."My father said, "don't worry about it, you can keep the watch."When I take apart a Green Star juicer, I always think of this story because it has so many more parts than a Champion.(Although fortunately, the Green Star is far easier to assemble and disassemble than an analog watch.:-)At the Living Light Culinary Institute where I trained as a raw foods chef, when we made pates and banana ice cream, we always reached for the Champion, not the Green Star.

In deciding whether to purchase a Green Star juicer, consider whether you are going to be juicing a lot of greens and/or wheatgrass, and whether you're really going to take the time to disassemble, clean, and assemble about a dozen parts each time you use it.If you're not put off by that, then I highly recommend the Green Star.If you are mostly considering a juicer for carrot juice, fruit juices, banana ice cream and pates, then I would steer you towards the Champion.If you want to use a juicer for all of the above and can afford and have the space for both, then I enthusiastically recommend both.

Note that there are 3 models of Green Star juicers, of which the GS1000 is their most basic model.The GreenStar.com website explains the various accessories that come with or can be purchased with each.Accessories such as pasta makers and mochi makers are available for purchase with the GS1000, but are included with the GS3000.

The flat head design makes it easy to stir up the bottom of the pan or pot.The wood used is very nice also, and it is a pretty spoon, especially for the price.Only the olive wood is more attactive to me.I would highly recommend this product.It would be a great first wooded utensil if you had to choose just one. Great quality for the price.
